“Curran is an online high-end custom rug company, specializing in Sisal and other natural fibers. I was hired to evaluate and optimize the CurranFloor site. ”

My Role & process

I led design from discovery to implementation.

Beginning with customer and stakeholder interviews, detailed competitor analysis, and documenting a content inventory for the existing Curran site.

Emphasizing Human Centered Design Principles, this process was highly iterative, relied on constant user interviews and testing, and resulted in measurable customer engagement improvements seen in Google Analytics, Moz Pro, and Hotjar; such as decreased bounce rate, increased clicks leading to transactions, and increased SEO.

Below is my initial 4 month contract proposal.

After the initial 4 months, my contract was extended another 4 months to design the rug category pages, filtering logic, design studio, and expand the style guide.

Solution

Restructure Information Architecture and find most intuitive user flow for each customer scenario.
Redesign Rug Builder to simplify and meet customer needs.
Create clear CTAs for swatches and promotions to direct customers to quick transactions.
Create filter and search features within Design Studio and uniform Category Pages.
Create widgets, clear CTAS, and informative icons to boost homepage functionality.
Create footer.

Problem

Too many paths to get users to the same place.
Clunky, difficult to use Rug Builder.
Ordering swatches needs to be a clear CTA on all pages and simple to complete.
Cluttered Global Nav and Information Architecture.
Design Studio needs better filter system and search functionality.
